BELLINGHAM JAPANESE ARMING THEMSELVES

BELLINGHAM, Tuesday, Sept. 10. -- Threatened with serious injury by white men, the Japanese colony of Bellingham is arming itself for a bloody conflict, holding secret meetings, attended by at least 100 Japanese in the building occupied by the Fern's lodging house in C Street. Late last night the whole situation with regard to expected attacks on the Mikado's men, and measures for defense were thoroughly canvassed and committees were appointed. The meeting began at 10:30 o'clock and did not close until 12:30.
