Church Here Helps Relocation Farm

A "model farm," operated by loyal American-born Japanese and Caucasian families, and perhaps shared also by Chinese or Negroes, has been leased at Deer Park, near Spokane, with money raised by Seattle church people and others, it was revealed yesterday.

Originally started as an aid to loyal Japanese who were removed from the Tule Lake relocation camp in California to make room for non-loyal Japs, the farm was set up as a cooperative, interracial experiment. Under the sponsorship of members of the Church of the People, and their pastor, the Rev. Fred Shorter, $5,500 was raised in Seattle, and an additional $4,500 in other parts of the state and Oregon.
