2,500 Nisei Of Hawaii Arrive To Join Army

SAN FRANCISCO, April 10.--(AP)--Twenty-five hundred Hawaiian-born Japanese are on their way to Mississippi for initial training with the Army's new Japanese-American combat team.

Arrival of the Japanese was announced by the War Department last night. They entered immediately for Mississippi, where they will be joined by an equal number of Japanese-Americans from the mainland.

All members of the group are volunteers, carefully chosen from among more than 10,000 applicants. Many of them formerly were members of the Honolulu Police and Fire Departments.
