Portland Jap Center Now Houses 2,849

PORTLAND, Or., May 21. -- (AP) -- The North Portland Japanese assembly center's population reached 2,849 yesterday, as 280 Japanese and Japanese-Americans from Clackamas, Tillamook, Washington, Columbia and Clatsop Counties arrived by bus and moving van.

Several hundred more Japanese from these counties are expected in the next week or so.
