Jap 'Objector' To Evacuation Held
Gordon Kiyoshi Hirabayashi, a Japanese student at the University of Washington, who described himself as a "conscientious objector to evacuation," was held today in the county jail on charges of failure to register for evacuation and of being within a restricted district.
Hirabayashi surrendered to agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation after the deadline for removal of all Japanese from Seattle. The Japanese, a senior in arts and science, was to be arraigned today before United States Commissioner Harry M. Westfall.
