6 U.S. Japanese Fear Violence, Lock Selves in
CLINTON, Mo., Thursday, Dec. 11.--(AP)--Six war-bewildered Japanese ventured outside today after remaining in voluntary, solitary confinement since Sunday--without food.
W.H. Lathrop manager of the hatchery where the six--American-born citizens--are employed, finally convinced them last night they were in no danger.
Lathrop said they feared violence Sunday after news of Japan's attack in the Pacific and had refused to leave their rooms, even for food, or to answer the door or telephone.
Lathrop said they would return to work today.
