Japanese-Born Can't Get Pay

Japanese-born domestic employes in Seattle clubs and private homes cannot be paid until further announcement from the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C., an official of the Federal Reserve Bank here announced today.

The order comes under a nationwide ruling prohibiting transfer of money or other assets to Japanese nationals. Japanese may continue to work on their regular jobs, awaiting further announcement from Washington, if they wish.

Withholding of paychecks does not apply to Italian and German nationals, officials said.
