Kent, Japanese Center, Alert for Sabotage

The small City of Kent south of Seattle, where one of the largest Japanese colonies in the Pacific Northwest tills lettuce fields and garden patches, "alerted" itself last night for home defense.

Mayor R.E. Wooden called a special meeting of Kent's home-defense council and 35 men responded immediately. Protection of Kent properties against sabotage points were provided for at the meeting.

Mayor Wooden called a special meeting of the City Council for tonight to authorize greater power for the home-defense unit.
