JAPANESE ALIEN PROBE ASKED

WASHINGTON, Wednesday, Nov. 26.--(UP)--The Senate foreign-relations committee today authorized a subcommittee to begin study of a resolution calling for an investigation of Axis activities, particularly Japanese; to organize groups of aliens in this country sympathetic to their cause.

Senator Guy M. Gillette, Democrat, Iowa, was named chairman of the subcommittee. Gillette is author of the resolution which, although it would apply to activities of all Axis powers, is directed specifically at Japanese groups operating in the United States.

Other members of the subcommittee are Claude Pepper, Democrat, Florida, Joseph F. Guffey, Democrat, Pennsylvania, Robert M. La Follette, Progressive, Wisconsin, and Wallace H. White, Jr., Republican, Maine. They were named by Senator Tom Connally, Democrat, Texas, chairman of the full committee.
