'NOW, SON, SNORE'

Shikuma Hold Is Classic

Killa Shikuma stepped behind the reporter and slipped his right arm around the reporter's head.

"I will probably do this," he said calmly, "to Mr. Kruml."

Mr. Kruml is the heavyweight wrestler Mr. Shikuma meets tonight in one of the four events at the Ice Arena. He is as large as Mr. Shikuma, who is the largest Japanese wrestler in America.

Then Shikuma locked in his right hand in the crotch of his left arm and applied pressure with his left hand to the reportorial head. The head bent, perforce, over the Shikuma right arm.

"In just a second," said Mr. Shikuma softly, much in the manner of Dr. Fu Manchu and other sinister characters, "you will go to sleep."

This seemed improbable, although the pressure was very definite. The reporter had his eye fixed on a statuesque photograph of Bronko Nagurski.

"You couldn't do it to him," he muttered.

"Oh yes, I could," said Shikuma.

The reporter was startled the next instant, to be greeted with a burst of laughter and to discover that while, a second before, he had been standing up, here he was sitting down on the floor while Shikuma was sitting down in a chair.

"That is the unconscious hold," said Shikuma, politely. "How do you feel?"

IT REALLY WORKS

The "unconscious hold" may be applied, Shikuma explained, even in the face of robust physical resistance. If held long enough, it could probably cause the victim to ascend what Orientals commonly call the dragon, which is a one-way trip to the pearly gates.

It takes about five seconds to "catch hold." The victim slumps to the floor and begins to snore, audibly, for about thirty seconds. Then he comes to with a start. It is all very disconcerting.
