Japanese May Lease Land Under California Ruling

SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, July 15. -- Under provisions of the treaty between the United States and Japan, alien Japanese may lease California land for commercial or residential purposes for as long as they desire, Attorney-General Webb ruled yesterday.

Webb held the treaty "by inference" accords alien Japanese the same privileges regarding long-term leases as American citizens.
