Taiyo-Nippons Meet Thursday in Second Grid Game of Season

GEORGE ISHIHARA, coach and business manager of the Taiyo Athletic Club, must have been writing letters to "Pop" Warner. He has been drilling his team in a lot of trick plays to pull on the Nippon Athletic Club when the two Nippon Athletic Club when the two Japanese rivals meet Thanksgiving morning at 11 o'clock in the new Auditorium Stadium, in the second of their two-game series. The first contest ended in a scoreless tie and the game Thursday will settle the championship between the two.

But Coach "Ham" Green of the Nippons also has uncorked a few plays himself and has developed a well-directed passing offense for the "big game."

In "Choppy" Umemoto Green has a real backfield threat. Umemoto is one of the fastest players in a grid uniform that has been seen in the league this season. Besides carrying the ball, he is the center of the Nippon' aerial attack. Sunday he completed a 30-yard pass against Atlantic Street that resulted in a touchdown. With Sakai Arai in shape again, and Fred Watanabee at the end positions, Green has two capable men to receive Umemoto's tosses.
