INDIANS PROTEST RULING
Yakimas Desire Right to Lease to Japanese.

YAKIMA, Saturday, Dec. 30. D.D. Varner, president of the Yakima Indian Commercial Club and Frank Iyall, one of its leaders, are in Yakima today, preparing an appeal to A.B. Fall, secretary of the Interior, regarding his ruling that aliens shall not be allowed to lease lands on the Indian reservation.

The Indian leaders say that the ruling will mean a great loss in revenue to them, as much of the land now worked by Japanese will not appeal to the white men, and that they consider the government in honor bound to allow them to make as much money as possible from their reservation holdings. Membership in the Indian Commercial Club is limited to members of the Yakima Tribe.
