ALIEN LAND FORFEITURED
Laundry Site of Pasco Japanese Must Be Given to State.

OLYMPIA, Thursday, Dec. 21. Despite introduction of an unrecorded deed purporting to transfer property in Pasco occupied by the laundry of E. Shokuta, a Japanese, to the Buddhist Mission Society, such property must be forfeited to the state under the constitutional provision prohibiting the holding of land by aliens, according to a decision of Judge John Truax of Franklin County, a copy of which was received Wednesday by Assistant Attorney General George C. Hannan. The state contended that Shokuta was still owner of the land, and that under the constitution it should escheat to the state. The action was tried before the passage of the antialien land law of 1921.
