COAST JAPANESE HOLD CONFERENCE

Business Men Meeting Here to Discuss Commercial and Educational Problems.

Commercial and educational interests of Japanese on the Pacific Coast were considered at today's session of a conference of Japanese business men held this week in the hall of the Japanese Association of Seattle at Jackson Street and Maynard Avenue.

Recognition of Japanese born in this country and educated in American colleges is one of the educational problems being threshed out. Japanese born in the United States are citizens of this country and their parents are anxious to retain that advantage for them. In addition, it has been proposed that the Japanese government give them the same recognition that is accorded Japanese educated in the Japanese universities.

Most of the problems considered by the conference affect business relations between Japanese concerns on the Pacific Coast and those in the Orient.

Yesterday the conference sent a telegram to President Woodrow Wilson pledging "their loyalty to a principle for which America has always stood, and their support to the government for the victorious prosecution of the war."

The following organizations are represented at the conference: Japanese Association of America, of San Francisco; Central Japanese Association of Southern California, of Los Angeles; Oregon Japanese Association, of Portland; United North American Japanese Association of Seattle, and the Japanese Association of Canada.
