JAPANESE NET STARS IN TOWN

Kumagae, Crack Oriental Racquet Wielder and His Doubles Partner Mikani Here on Return to Orient.

Ichiya Kumagae and Machishiro Mikami, the Japanese tennis stars who were the sensations of eastern tennis matches this year, are visitors in Seattle. The Oriental racquet weilders [wielders] are here on their return to Japan after their successful conquest of the American tennis world. Although they did not win the championship they came so close that lovers of the game in this country held their breaths.

The Japanese admit that they like America, they respect the prowess of American tennis players and are appreciative of the sportsmanship of the American public. But -- they do not hesitate to announce that next year when they come to Seattle on their return from Japan, they will have the American doubles championship tucked safely away. Kumagae has designs on the singles as well, although he announces that he will bring to the United States next year a tennis player better than himself.

While in Seattle the Japanese stars are spending their time on local courts exhibiting their skill before local Japanese and American players. In this city they are the guests of K. Wada, Seattle Japanese court star.

Kumagae and Mikami will leave for Canada Thursday. They will embark for the Orient from a Canadian port.
