HONOLULU JAPANESE CAUGHT SIGNALING

WASHINGTON, Thursday, Nov. 5. -- Japanese warships lying outside of Honolulu waiting for the little German cruiser Geier have been receiving secret signals from a Japanese civilian ashore.

Official reports yesterday said an American naval officer had caught the Japanese signaling and had warned him not to repeat the offense.

A date already has been set for the departure of the Geier, which has been repairing at Honolulu, unless the commander elects to interne his ship for the rest of the war.
