CENTRAL COUNCIL WOULD ADMIT JAPANESE UNIONS

The Central Labor Council at its weekly meeting last night went on record as favoring the admission of Japanese to all labor unions affiliated with the American Federation of Labor. The action was taken following the reading of a communication from the Journeymen Barbers' International Union acknowledging the receipt of a copy of the resolution the council adopted a few weeks ago, urging that the international admit women barbers to its ranks. In the letter Jacob Fisher, general secretary-treasurer of the international, presumably in sarcasm, wrote:

"I would be pleased to hear from your council as to whether they favor admission of Japanese barbers to membership in our organization, as well as into unions of all other trades."

I.W. Buck, of the local Barbers' Union, moved that the secretary write in answer that the council favored "the organization of all workers in every craft."

The motion was carried without opposition.
