AWFUL NUISANCE

Rear of Several Tenderloin Houses Are Veritable Garbage Heaps.

In the rear of several buildings on the east side of Second Avenue South between Jackson and Main Streets, are great heaps of the very worst kind of garbage. In the rear also of some buildings on the south side of Washington Street between Second and Third Avenues South are similar heaps. Most of it seems to have been thrown from upper windows and the trail of the stuff from the second and third-story windows down the brick walls is as clearly shown as if a painter had done the work with his brush. In both instances the refuse has been thrown into vacant lots and not on an alley, and is mostly from Chinese and Japanese houses.
