Japanese Illegally Here.

Five Japanese laborers who had come into the country from British Columbia illegally were arrested yesterday by the local customs inspectors. They made their way from the neighborhood of the mouth of the Fraser River in a small boat built by themselves. They were found under a wharf near the Washington Iron Works. The number of Japanese coming into the country in a lawful manner recently has been comparatively small, but the officers have had information from time to time which leads them to suspect that they are being smuggled in by boat in considerable numbers. Strenuous efforts are therefore being made to break up the illegal traffic.
