STRIKERS RESENTING EMPLOYMENT OF JAPS

FRESNO, Cal., Monday, Oct. 2. That the hiring of Japanese to take the places of striking shopmen will be followed by violence is the threat made to Southern Pacific Railroad officials by switchmen and brakemen, according to reports here. Arrivals in Fresno last night told of a delegation of switchmen and brakemen waiting upon Assistant Manager Scott, of the Southern Pacific, in San Francisco yesterday afternoon, and warning him of what would follow in case Orientals were employed. The reported action follows the hiring of five Japanese who were put to work here yesterday wiping cars, but who were promptly called off.
