JAPANESE GAMBLERS FLEECE WHITE MEN

Spokane Police Run Down Oriental Crooks in Seclusive Cell -- Victims Go Through Maze.

SPOKANE, Wednesday, July 19. -- In one of the most seclusive cells imaginable, the Spokane police have unearthed a Japanese gambling den in which it is believed the wily Orientals have fleeced the unwary out of many thousands of dollars.

Complaints have been made repeatedly to the police of a gang of Japanese who fleeced white men under the influence of liquor, often enticing them to enter a gambling den. Repeatedly, the victims have tried to lead the officers to the room, but the attempts always proved futile, till the police sent out a decoy. Then a raid followed, but not till the police had been led to the third story of a building and then clear back to the basement, through a series of stairways and doors.

They found a complete gambling outfit, and in the raid arrested six Japanese, who were found in the place.
