CENTRALIA, Friday, Feb. 24. The twin cities of Centralia and Chehalis possess a peculiar fascination for Japanese, who refuse to be repulsed by repeated defeat in making strenuous efforts to get a foothold in either or both cities. A short time ago Chehalis discouraged several of the Nipponese from setting up in business by having no available places for them. Within the past two days several other Japanese have reached Centralia from Seattle, coming with the intention of opening a cheap restaurant and a Japanese curio store. There is a scarcity of empty stores in Centralia anyway at present, but the few available were made impossible for Japanese by a sudden raise of rent to prohibitive prices.
