Japs Discharged.

The Times Special Service.

EVERETT, Thursday, Feb. 28. -- All Jap engine wipers in the employ of the Great Northern Railroad Company at the round houses located at Interbay, Leavenworth and Skykomish have been removed and their places filled by white wipers.

The reason assigned for the change by the railroad officials is that it has been the custom of the company to promote wipers to firemen on the engines, and while the Japs are regarded as efficient wipers they are not suited to service on the engines, either as firemen or engineers, to which latter they would stand in line for promotion.

The discharged Japs will ultimately be taken back into the section service, it is claimed.
