JAP AND WHITE WOMAN CANNOT GET MARRIED

Walla Walla Ministers and Judges Refuse to Perform Ceremony and Mandamus May Follow.

WALLA WALLA, Tuesday, Aug. 3. -- After obtaining a marriage license here yesterday afternoon, Frank Ishikure, a Japanese 32 years old, and Miss Minnie Crockett, 39 years old, a white woman, both of Walla Walla, were unable to find a minister willing to perform the ceremony.

Refused in turn by all of the sixteen clergymen in Walla Walla, the local justice of the peace and Judge Brents of the superior court, the couple assert they will bring mandamus proceedings against the superior judge to force him to perform the wedding ceremony.
