Japanese Woman Attempts Suicide

Mrs. Nao Akatsu, 61-year-old Japanese, was in serious condition in Harborview County Hospital today after she slashed herself in the abdomen in a suicide attempt in her home, 619 Weller St., at 11:30 o'clock yesterday forenoon.

Police said Mrs. Akatsu had been despondent over ill health. Officers J.W. Murray and W.W. Weedin rushed the woman to the hospital after finding her unconscious. An emergency operation was performed.
