Oriental War Vets Lose Eviction Suits
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 22. -- The State Supreme Court, in a 6-to-1 decision on the hand-picked test cases of Chinese and Japanese-American and Korean war veterans, ruled today that it cannot help non-whites fight eviction from the homes they own in restricted, white neighborhoods.
It refused to intervene in Superior Court proceedings to evict four American-born Orientals and in the cases of two other American-born Japanese whose lands are being confiscated under the State Alien Property Law.
