Nisei May Sue For Citizenship

KLAMATH FALLS, Or., Oct. 26.--(UP)--The Klamath Falls Herald & News reported today that a group of Japanese at the Tulelake Relocation Center are contemplating legal action to recover previously renounced American citizenships.

The paper disclosed that 4,300 Nisei at the center renounced citizenship late in 1944 and early in 1945. It was reported by the paper that many of the Nisei said they did not fully understand what they were doing. Some asserted they were coerced by pro-Japanese pressure groups and others said they acted only to preserve family unity, the paper [declared].
