1,000 Japanese Quit Centers Each Week

SPOKANE, July 13. -- (AP) -- Evacuees have been leaving Japanese relocation centers for civil life at the rate of 1,000 a week, John F. Eubank, Spokane district relocation officer, said yesterday.

Eubank said all remaining centers set up by the federal government at the start of the Pacific war would be closed by the end of this year. Approximately 45,000 persons of Japanese ancestry now are in the eight relocation camps in operation, the War Relocation Authority official said. The camps at the peak held 110,000 persons.

Eubank said the camp near Hunt, Idaho, would be closed November 1.
