Nisei Hero on Roll Of Hood River Legion

HOOD RIVER, Or., April 25. -- Hood River -- where the American Legion post was spurred by the national Legion into restoring names of Japanese-Americans expunged from its war honor roll -- today had a Japanese-American hero.

The soldier was Frank T. Hachiya, technician, third grade, Hood River native, who pothsumously was awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action on Leyte.
