DEMAND DISMISSAL OF JAPANESE MEN

Citizens of Arlington Hold Mass Meeting and Protest to Employers of Oriental Labor.

EVERETT, Thursday, Jan. 9. -- A mass meeting was held Tuesday night in Arlington as a demonstration on the part of citizens against forty-five Japanese laborers employed by millmen in that neighborhood. Prior to this meeting a petition had been circulated and signed by 187 residents requesting the employers to discharge the aliens.

The people of Arlington are considerably worked up over this subject. When interviewed by a committee the mill owners requested a delay until Saturday to see if there is any way to cancel their contracts with the Japanese.
