Hirabayashi Taken To McNeil Camp

Gordon K. Hirabayashi, Japanese-American former University of Washington student, was taken to the federal prison camp on McNeil Island yesterday, to begin a one-year sentence on his conviction in the Spokane court of failure to report for work at a conscientious objectors' camp.

Hirabayashi, who married a Seattle Caucasian, previously lost a legal battle against evacuation from the Pacific Coast, in a trial held in United States District Court in Seattle.
