JAPANESE IMMIGRANTS SUPPLIED WITH MAPS

Former Secretary of Consulate at Vancouver, B.C., Declares His Countrymen Bound for Washington

VANCOUVER, B.C., Thursday, Nov. 14. -- One Japanese calling another a liar in a quarrel over Japanese immigration matters was the spectacle presented yesterday at Commissioner McKenzie King's Oriental investigation. Mr. Noshy, former secretary of the Japanese consulate at Vancouver, denied charges against his company of assisting immigration which had been made by K. Ishiwaga, president of the Japanese Boarding House Keepers' Union. Ishiwaga retracted though warned by Commissioner King of the consequences of perjury.

Noshy told the court that he had seen Japanese with specially prepared maps in their possession, showing easy places for crossing the international boundary line and how to reach them in going to the United States. The object of the immigration, he declared, was that the Japanese might get into Washington State.
