Grange Head Assails Hint Of Jap Return

PORTLAND, Or., May 27.--(AP)--Dillon S. Myer's statement that Japanese should be returned to the Pacific Coast as soon as the military situation warrants has aroused the ire of Morton Tompkins, master of the Oregon State Grange.

"Oregon, California and Washington still are part of the Union," declared Tompkins, "and before any action of this nature is taken, we want to have something to say about it."

While Coast residents have maintained silence to avoid jeopardizing werfare [welfare] of American war prisoners in Japaneses [Japanese] hands, Tompkins said, "sob sisters from other parts of the nation have been laying the groundwork for returning evacuees to this area."
