JAP-AMERICANS REFUSE TO DRILL

FORT M'CLELLAND, Ala., March 22.--(AP)--Twenty-eight Japanese-Americans who refused to take military training at the military replacement center here have been placed in the camp stockade to await court-martial, Brig. Gen. Wallace C. Philoon, commanding general, announced today.

General Philoon said the men were members of a battalion which began training recently, and that all other members of the group had accepted training willingly.

"The men lived for several years in Japan," the general said, "and were indoctrinated with the military philosophy of that country."

The general said the men refused "to accept training under the American flag." Most of them had been recently inducted into the Army.
