TOO MANY IN A ROOM.
Japanese Lodging Houses Violating Sanitary Regulations.

Health Officer McKehnie and the members of the board of health made a trip through the Japanese quarter Saturday night, and investigated the sanitary condition of the Japanese lodging houses. The officials claim that the Japanese lodging houses are over-crowded to a great degree, and that the cubic air area which the law says must be allowed each individual in lodging houses is not allowed in the Japanese quarters. The law requires 512 cubic feet to each person. The board will make recommendations to the council on the subject tonight.
