Mr. Layton, personal manager of Frederick and Nelson, declared the ad did not apply to Jewish people. "It just isn't in the picture to hire Japanese or Negroes."

The Catholic Worker in last week's issue, protests the advertisement, and asks Catholics to refrain from making further purchases from the store of Frederick and Nelson.

Japanese and Negroes can take it or leave it.

Our advice is to spend your money with friendly merchants.
