April 30, 1943

This is to inform you that due to unbearable circumstances and mental strangulation for some reason unknown to me I kindly request you make a change of your clerk. Of late you have shown too much coolness, at times even anger and of course less cooperation towards a harmonious and successful hospital duties. Why the sudden change in your attitude is too difficult for me to discover. You may be displeased with my humble service, you might be mad at some errors made by me or it might be hatred of the person who is serving you faithfully.

Ever since our unfortunate detention I have always worked in some capacity assiting [sic] my fellow detainees and the officers in charge. I have plenty evidence and proof of this statement both in writing or in merchandise in the nature of gifts. Even though small and humble my services have always been approved of and appreciated, because whatever I do I put in my heart and soul omitting selfishness at all times.

For you I have worked with the same spirit. I have tried my best and tried it faithfully. You seemed to have recognized my work at first, but as mentioned above, your attitude lately is quite the contrary. I cannot help but feel mentally wounded and morally disgraced. I am sure your consciousness will quite agree on this subject. Therefore, I shall serve you until you can acquire yourself a more efficient clerk. However, one week's time will be the limit I can offer you to make your change.

Lastly I wish to extend you my sincere thanks for all you have accorded me and I promise there shall be no ill feeling even after my dismissal.

This letter is to inform you of my desire to resign and I hope I have not offended you in any way.

Yours truly
[illegible]

P.S.: Copy of this letter will be given to Mr. Jensen so that he may know why and how of my resignation.
