Miss Henrietta Schoen
I & NS Service
Santa Fe, New Mexico

Dear Miss Schoen,

May I take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for your kindness during my long stay at Santa Fe and on the trip here to Poston.

Upon reaching Poston, I immediately entered the hospital (June 3) and was discharged on the 6th. I was given a room at the above address. My room is a pleasant and comfortable one but due to the fact that I have been accustomed to the kind service of doctors and nurses at Santa Fe and also because I am not fully recovered I find life here very inconvenient as I must leave the room for all necessities. But I am happy to be able to say that my present condition is such that I can leave the room for my meals. A few days after being discharged from the hospital I had an attack which kept me in bed for 40 days but I am feeling much better now.

A visit I made to the hospital on July 18th [June?] – my first since being discharged – convinced me that I must keep myself well enough so that I will not have to become a patient.

The staff is already overworked and the hospital is filled to capacity. Unless a serious attack makes it absolutely necessary to become hospitalized, I wish to stay here in my own room inconveniences and all, rather than to become a patient of the already overcrowded hospital.

The heat here is unbearable at times but I am feeling much better and I feel that this climate is good for me.

May I again thank you sincerely for all your kindness and help during my year at Santa Fe and during my trip here.

Thank you.

Very sincerely yours,
Harry K. Oye
