Dear Joe,

Here I am, I just ate supper, & heres what we had, rice, fish, eggplant, cabbage, & pudding, & tomato soup. It was good because it was good & hot. 14 mess hall has become very good in cooking & man it sure does taste good. Better than what it used to be like when we came to Manzanar.

This morning, I wore the lettermans sweater to school & it sure was warm, I didn't freeze at all. On my algebra test I got B & I sure was glad. In latin, I get confused because it's very puzzling when it comes to the declensions. In English I've had 1 excellent paper & 1 very good paper so its okay as yet but on Oct. 25 I'm going to have a test where the grades come out & thats hard. On the next day in latin I'm going to have a test for report cards & I'm again scared. I've already had my test in Gym on volley ball rules so I guess it turned out okay. In Algebra I'm going to have a test tomorrow for the grades & I am hoping that I do a little better than B. One thing I can't get is the coefficients & the exponents because they are always getting me mixed up. You'll have to excuse this unreadable writing for the meantime. I'm sure I don't know what my grade is going to be in History because I do get bored because the teacher doesn't know how to conduct the class. I think I'll have a pretty good report card except Latin, I'm afraid of that class. Well, the mornings have been very cold & you always see the frost. We've been using extra blankets because of the sudden change in the weather.

In seventh period I have gym & at that time I used to get real hot & when I came home I'd turn on the cold shower I but I couldn't even feel it because it was so cold. But now the wind is even cold in the afternoon & you always have to wear something to keep from freezing. On Oct 18 it was a real windy cold night with the north wind blowing away & me freezing. About 8:30 a banging went on at the door & some person came & then gave us a slip saying 2 suit cases. I knew the stuff had come & so Towru went after it the next day but again some one came & this time it was the police. He said for Towru to go to the hearing so Towru went the next day. Towru came out okay in the hearing & said that he had to wait 2 weeks before he could get the clearance but he is doing okay. Getting back to the suit cases, Towru went & the suit cases went through a M.P. inspection but everything was okay & I thought Kenji might have had something in there that they would take away but it was all okay. When I got home from school I discovered that it came & with excitement I ran to the suit cases & opened one which had your things in them. But much to my discourage the suit cases were kinda banged up. Especially the one that had your stuff in it. You know that little thing that is on the top of the suit case in the in side of it. Well you know, that little top layer that in the inside of the suit case well, the bottom of it fell out & it was a sad looking thing. Well we can
