Dear Joe,

We received your letter yesterday and was very glad to hear from you. Also the key came safly and we think that it would be okay that you keep the other key incase that something did happen to the one that we have.

We are all well and glad that you are the same. About the suit cases, the other day Kenji Horitas neice came and asked if it came and I told her that it didnt arrive as yet and that I would give Kenjis things to them as soon as the suit cases arrive. Well I hope that the prices were not too much in order to send the stuff. Did you send the suit cases with the money that was left over from the dictionary money? I dont care how the dictionaries look on the out side because they are more valuable on the inside. Gee, it was pretty cheap to get the dictionary for 1.50 when the thing really did cost the price of 5-6 dollars. Gee that really was some luck for you. Thank you very much for that favor of getting the dictionaries. I am pretty glad that you didnt have to spent more than I sent to you. All I hope is that they do arrive very soon because I really do need them. How come you are going to send back your lettermans sweater? Could it be that you are getting pretty fat? I think that you are really pretty fat. Am I right?

Are you still working in the Ellis coop? I as wondering if you are? It pretty nice that you at least got 20 dollars to keep your self fit on.

Gosh I think that the mellon is ripe now and that it will get too ripe and it wont taste too good so you better eat it before you think that you just threw away 1.20. Papa says I bet that jaoe just keeps looking at it and touching it and saying gosh it really is a beauty. We are all hoping that you really get that swell taste of the honey dew because they are really what you call good. The melons out here are really out of the season and they are not good any more and so I guess we dont eat any more after this. The water melon this year was not good and so we didnt get hardly and of it so I bet next year they will have a little more.

Well I think that's a lot of work trying to write a letter on a typewriter because it takes such a long time. I dont know if you like to write letters on the type writer but it is hard for me. This is because I dont know how to type as yet and I will be taking it in the next semester. At school this week we are going to tests inorder to get our first weeks grade so really am scared. I bet you are scared too. do you think that you will get good grades like you did last year? I hope you do. Gee some people sure are lucky that they have brains so forth. But the ones that are not smart really do get a lot of competition. One of the subjects that are really hard for me is latin and am I wondering what the grade will be in that class. I have a hard grader teacher so I really hope that I do get at least a average grade. One of the classes that i like the best is my algebra class and I think that it really is a lot of fun to do so many different kinds of problems. That class makes you think and use your head. Dont you think so? In study hall we have to sit alphabetical order and in one period I have to sit next to aiji and then in another one I have to sit at a table where ther are a bunch of boys. Then in that same period I have to be the door monitor in case there is a fire in the study hall.

I went to see wke island and ir really was a propaganda picture and it was really laughing at what the Chinese were saying when they acted as a japanese in the picture and also I saw the picture of wake Island.

Here I am still using the good old typewriter ribbon and its really getting low on the ink situation.

Towru says that he is expecting to go out in two or three weeks and wants you to know that he is coming soon but I dont know if thats really what you would call the answer of positive so I dont know if you are going to count on that but thats what he told me to tell you right now. I think towru is all shot trying to go out there hes not what call a positive person to go out there. Wel any way I guess that is what he wants you to know. And he thinks that he is going to reach there in two or three weeks I think. I hope that he is right because dont want you to get discouraged and make you mad you waited for him so this is not positive.
