Dear Joe,

Today I received the two postcards. Again we were all glad to hear from you.

First I better answer your questions. Well, mama met Ken's sister when she went to sewing school. Gee Ken must be pretty thrifty. I bet he really does pullin the dough. By the way. Mama gave the picture of Ken to his sis and so I guess she likes it. The picture was the one in the front of the museum. We are saving the one with the sky scraper in the background. These are the pictures that we have left. You and Winslow, minister and Wes, Paul and Winslow, Joe, you studying, you in front of the museum, you, clair, Iku on the steps laughing, Ken, Clair, and Iku with the skyscraper in the back, the bears, and then the panda. The picture of George, you, and the girls in the park was given to Mrs. Sakata by mama because she didnt have any picture of George.

That must be terrible about Paul. Every Friday night I see pauls brother at the show. He always is so Quiet.

Gee, did it really pour? I wish it would rain out here. At least we could stand a little bit. The weather has been better lately. Much more cooler than it usually has been. Maybe its the ventilater that we have on thefront part of the roof that makes it so cool. This morning it has been pretty cold. You know, it seems like winter is going to come pretty fast this year. The sun sets at 7:30. 1/2 hour faster than it used to.

When you were here in Manzanar, you probably didnt hear the buguls of the army camp next to us but now a days you can always hear them. In the morning at 6:00 they blow the buguls and then at 6:30 they blow the you got to get up one and then at 6;45 they do another one. Last call for breakfast I guess. Then they blow it at each hour to tell what the time is.

I bet you were pretty glad that the niger didnt go to work that day. Well any way if you pull in a little bit of money you probly can help the semester money problems and the trip that you want to go on so badly.

[Page 2]

Is that true? you actually got the package and sent it huh. Well many thanks to you from me. I had almost forgotten about the cool aide and sugar because you did mention it very much. As I did read the little part that said that the sugar and kool aide did come in the mail a slight grin came to my face so you probly know what I mean.

Gee I wish you wouldnt worry somuch about the money and so the last letter that I sent to you told about the money.

The other day I didnt have any thing to do so I decited that I would see how many letters you wrote to us. Counting todays and the other letters you have written 88 letters. And also I went to the trouble to see how many letters we received that were in the envelopes and there were 61 and ther were 27 postcards. you have spent a lots on letters. You have used this many 3 cent stamps. 64. That amounts to $1.92. Then you have used 27 cents on the post cards. Also 1 1 1/2 cent stamp. All of this amounts to $2.20. So then you have spent $2.20 on 88 letters. And when you add up on the stationery and the envelopes you probly would land on around 3 1/2 dollars. Joe when you have time would you see how many letters and money we have spent on letters and stamps and so forth that we have written to you. Just the way I have done it. Okay? I have the letters all in order by the dates. I have them put into a box too. Oh yes while we are still on the subject of letters, I was cleaning up the book shelf the other day and I found a lot of letters that were in a box. They were all to you and I was wondering if you wanted these letters because they are noted for junk. Im trying to get the house in a better way so we wont have too much junk. The letters are from spencer kono and all of your friends that wrote to you when you were here in manzanar. Tell me in your nextvletter if you want them.

When I was cleaning the book shelf I found a lot of things that Didnt beoong to us that you had borrowed. There was some kind of a book that you had borrowed from shigeharu hayashi and we want to return it so if you know where he lives please give the sdress to us so we may return it to him. Also some books that were borrowed from the chem. dept. with the names of L.E. Olson on the top. The titles were chlorination in sewage disposal, and advances and developments in sewage chlorination. please tell us if they were borrowed or given to you.

[Page 3]

Joe, in the book shelf there are some keys that you brought home when you were working in the sewage place and they are labeledas the store room. These things may be important so be sure to tell us right away.

In the show last night I saw the picture with charlie chan and some others and it really was good. Except pop didnt understand and he asked too many questions. Many of the girls were screaming in the back and the murder was good. Next week we are going to have something special. Starting from tuesday we are going to have a special one and another special one on tuesday. On thursday the eduation is giving one and the usual features on friday and saterday. Boy seven days in a week and out of those seven days we will have movies 5 days in a row. Gee it sure is swell.

Mama has made some shorts and so within a few days she is going to send them to you.

When they said that the shoe ration cupons were going to be void last month I got excited and bought some brown oxford shoes at the canteen and I thought they fitted me so I bought them. When I started to walk around with them they were too big and each time I took a step they made a big noise by rubbing up and down so I have to save them until me little feet grow.

Getting back to the part of the money., Do you think that you will have enough money when you start for the semester? We are wondering if you will have enough to go to school and Ind.

Well I have nothing more to say except that I forgot to answer the last letter so Im going to write more.

Jimmy Lowell is going to come eh. Well. we laughed when you asked if macs apt. could be used for a noghts rest because that sounded funny. But not they have a law that most for the visitors are to sleep out of the camp or something so it is very hard to let them sleep in a private apt. If he does come Towru would be glad to show jimmy lowell around the camp.

Yes, I know kay motooka. She lives at 36-9-1. I will say hello for you when I see her.

Gee we sure did laugh when you told us about Tsukasa Kamiya.

Gee it must have been pretty noisy with the jazz music and people gabbing and so forth and so when we used to make noise with the radio and you used to yell at us I guess we were not as half as bad as it is where you are.

[Page 4]

So mama laughed and said that was a good experience for you.

Well I am not going for the career of being a writer but who knows, I may be famous some day. (I hope)

Well, I ate lunch now so Im pretty full.

Be sure to answer all of the questions that were asked in this letter and the other one.

Sis,

Mas

I got to sew now.
