Dear Joe,

Thank you for the post cards that come continuously.

You should have seen Mack's face this morning when he got 6 letters.

Gee, every time I write to you there seems to be nothing to tell you about in this dry old camp. I guess I will answer your card first.

I'm sorry to hear about your money situation. I guess you really will have to work for it on the hard side. I know you really do want to go to Indianapolis but I'm wondering if you really should go if the money is too hard to get.

It must be pretty hot where you are. Say, you said you lost a lot of salt by working with the hot dishes & so forth. Sometimes I get that way too. I loose a lot of salt and everything turns black for a while. Once I felt terrible and no matter what I did the same old dizziness stuck to me. I always get that feeling on Sundays.

Sorry to hear about George I. It must have been pretty hard on him.

Moma & I really would like to get a hold of the picture because they are so interesting. Boy, it will be a surprise to see the roses in a nice place.

Good for you. Keep it up. I bet your bed must look pretty neat when the others are all messy. I make mine every single day too. But Towru is the same old guy that doesn't make his bed.

He's lazy all the time and right after he eats he hears the first bell ring and then he rushes off to school. Boy, I think he makes his bed sometimes on Sunday and that's about all.

You really ought to be thankful for the nice things that Joe L. gave to you and Paul. I hope that you really are enjoying what is going on.

Everytime I go to the show I see Paul Ahi's brother with another guy sitting in the front. I don't think he remembers me so I don't say anything and that's all. He is still the quiet type.

I don't remember what Sunday it was but I was going to church with Amy when I saw Mas N. coming out of the #15 block latrine. I said hello and smiled but he didn't have his glasses on and I guess he just got up and he started to stare at me as if he didn't ever see a woman in his life. I just acted natural but after I got up a little ways toward the church I laughed my head off. But when he looked at me in a funny way I was embarrassed.

This morning mama has gone to help make flowers for funerals. She's been helping quite often, I so wish she would stay home. It gets very lonesome when she's not around. Then I go eat with Mrs. Odahara. But I don't care for her now that I know what she likes. Nowadays she's getting so cranky and bossy that I hardly care to see her. She always makes funny faces & frowns.

Yesterday, the funniest thing had happened. Something that I never had seen before that happened last evening. It was around 4:30 when mama came home from flower making and she saw all of the people looking towards the mountains. (The Sierras) We asked this guy and he said there is a star that can be seen during the day time. He showed it to me and I couldn't find it for quite a while but sure enough it was 2 feet straight above the tallest peak. It was very small.

This lady in Blk. 20 went to the LA county Hospital for an eye operation. She said that her eye was all well and then was resting. All the hospital patients called her a "Jap" and she never felt more awful. The doctors & nurses treated her very well. She said there was a sick Japanese man and he told her that to tell his wife not to keep and hope for him because he was suffering a great deal. This man could not be fed anything but through pipes. One day this man cut his wrists and let the blood all out and died. They just had the funeral at the Buddhist Church the other day. It sure is a sad story but true.

The segregation will be finished by November and I guess that's when every thing will be all cleared.

Well, I guess that's about all I can really say so I'll write when more news is around.

Sis,

Masako

Many of the people that have left camp are now having a hard life and it seems that moma felt that we cannot relocate because we will suffer from that kind of stuff.

They might start the drafting in this camp for the boys.

Still waiting for the K.A. & S.

When you get dizzy eat lots of salt. Also sprinkle in food when hot.

During last weeks show we saw a falling star or 5.
