Hi Joe,

Heres hoping to find you getting well from the intestinal flu. Boy we are really sorry to hear about that. We are all well. Pop had a cold something like that but he's all well now.

I am just answering your post card we got today.

Say that situation about this fellow who told you a bunch of non sense won't get you back to this camp again so I'd just forget the old fogie. (Senator of Tennessee) Studies are coming along okay aren't they?

Boy what do you think, math is getting pretty easy for me and if I need any help there aren't any more chances that I am below average. Manzanar High School has a constitution and next week we are going to have student boy elections. Towru said he might be the chairman at the first assembly. How's that? Gee I don't have any thing to tell you. Oh yah. Tomorrow school is out at 1:45 and after that we all have to march in a parade with shorts. Boy what a sight. Don't' you wish you could see it?

Heynai left this week and boy what a farewell party. It started around 7:30 and ended around 12:00. They laughed real loud until 10:30 and then it got quiet. after that I fell asleep. Towru said he went to the shower around 12:30 and went to bed. At 2:00 am he had the alarm on and instead of him waking up I woke up. I shook his head & he turned the alarm off. At 3:30 Mae knocked and called but he was a sleep & again instead of him waking

up I woke up again. Again I shook his head and he got up and saw hiney got off at 4:00 am) He's a soldier boy now so he's pretty loyal. He said he volunteered because he wanted to get us out of camp and have the new generation of Japanese have a better life. Boy what a brave guy. After that morning when hiney left, I got up around 7:00 and told Towru to wake up instead of me. Towru laughed and called me Coffee Nerves.

I am not growing like Mariko Kitagawa said but I hope to grow just a wee bit more. Yasuko's the one that's really growing. She's 5 ft. 3 in. Boy isn't that pretty tall. Remember Henry and George Takemura. Well something terrible happened to their little brother in Colorado. The little brother made a cave with some boys and this cave was their little hut. One day Toshio was playing with the other kids and this cave fell in and

Toshio was buried alive and smothered to death. Poor kids funerals today.

In block 25 a little boy was run over and by luck he didn't die. Well I'm out of things to say so I'll end it for today.

Always,

Your sis

Masako
