Dear Joe,

How are you? we are all fine and hope you are the same.

Thank you for the post card. Today we are in with bad weather as it is just as dusty as it could be. The sun is shinning but it doesn't look half as beautiful as on the warm days. Yesterday was also the same way.

On Saturday there was a wedding at the buddist Church. One of our kitchen workers got married. If you can remember he was a bachelor by the name of Hataka. It was a real simple wedding. Also there was a show at 19 kitchen. The

Name of the picture was "The Road to Singapore" also with a popeye cartoon. Also we had a picture in our block. These pictures were not the regular kind of movie films. These pictures were taken by Joe Tani and they really were good. We manged to get this picture for the little kids in our block. The little boys. If you remember, the one's that were playing for block 14. Benny Yoshiwara

organized this club. Since the boys were starting to reform and not swear he decited to have the movie. The pictures are really interesting because it shows the district near venice and also in venice. Next Saturday we are going to have another one about ocean park & venice pier. Boy but thats going to be interesting. Tonight we are going to have a show in our kitchen. Its going to be "Who Done It" with Abott & Costello. We hardly have shows that are good but

I guess we shouldn't yell about. Can you by candy & gum out where you are? Teresa wrote and said it was awfully hard to get gum and candy at home. Right now I'm in study hall with nothing to do but write to you. I have all of my home work finished so far. This semester I didn't take no elective so I only have my required subjects. Those are Math, Social Living, gym science. Thats all because school is getting pretty hard especially with a lot of competition.

I should have took algebra last semester but I guess I didn't know what I was really doing. Now I'm really sorry. I don't know if I'll really be able to go to college.

How I wish I could get out of this corny camp and be with you. Have you seen Mr Takemura yet. Hes living someplace in Melrose park.

Last night I ate at Kitchen 20 be cause 14's was lousy. They had roast, potato (mashed), salad, rice, and otskemono. Do you ever get hungry for Japanese food. The kind of things like gohaun and okoko? Do you get a chance to eat it?

About the wrong address you were the one who gave it to us by mistake. They are fixing the streets. They are plowing and smoothing them down but they haven't taken any oil to put on the streets as yet. As I told you in the last letter that I have a new teacher from the south she is very very interesting. Today she told us quite a bit of jokes but one friday I heard this joke. There was a math teacher assigning problems to the children in class. Heres how the joke goes.

Teacher:

Now you do number 1 on this page and you do number 2 on the board on the same page and the rest of the class do yours in your seat.

Teresa sent up this one. Why did the moron cut off his arms?

Ans. Because he wanted to learn how to play the piano by ear.

Have you heard any funny jokes lately?

You sure are lucky to get to ride a bicycle around. Gee if I had only saved mine and not sold it. And also the washing machine must really be handy. Do you like to cook? We are all glad that there is plenty of milk

[Page 8]

for you. I drink 2 glasses of milk daily. The other day I told Moma to cut my hair but she wouldn't so I to a hunk of my own hair and chopped it. Boy not looking at it and accidentally cut off 2 inches of my hair boy I sure looked like a mess.

So long.

P.S. Dont forget to write soon. We will try to get the hospital to send your small pox proof to you but todays its windy. If it isn't tomorrow we'll try to go tomorrow.
