Dear Joe,

After you left it was really hard to get along with out you. I just finished my math & matsu is here helping Towru on his genious civics. It is nine thirty & pappas just getting home from work. Mama has just had a bit a discussion with Odahara san. Well I guess I better go to bedo.

Dear Joe,

Today it is Ayako Nishis birthday & she's actually 13 years old. Also Haruko Ichien's & Herby Takemuras. Herby is 14 & Haruko is 12. Today they came after your cot & tick. We kept the blankets for our own use. Tonight Ayako & I played horse shoe with Towru & Matsu. Matsu & I lost & of course Towru & Ayako won. The score was 21-16. Tonight mamas fixing the two windbreakers she started & shes practically finished. This morning Towru & Papa estimated that you were someplace passed Utah. Tonight the stew was full of pepper & boy it was so hot that each bite you took had to be taken down with a bit of water. One man didn't know it had a lots of pepper in & put some on. Boy you should have seen the expression on his face. Well, we also had rice, dishwater soup & 2 small doughnuts. Kiya says hello to you. I went to the lavatory & Iris Akiyama said that Miss Ely told her class about you. She said that Miss Ely said every body should relocate because after the war it would be impossible to be employed.

Dear Joe,

Today I have got sort of used to sleeping in your bed. Boy its really comfortable & warm. Well I finished my math & I'm ready to retire. Tatsuo Let some boys do experiments in class & it sure was interesting. Yesterday I got a letter from the Varins & they say its getting much warmer after having one month of 1 complete degrees below 0. They also sent me a picture of Mrs. Varin & Punky. Boy I had to look twice before I could reconize punky. He sure has gotten big since I last saw him. The mittens & flowers I sent them reached & they said they liked them very much. They also sent me a Hankie & two pictures of Christ. Mrs. Varin said that punkie says sank you goota masch. Thats the way he's supposed to talk.

Dear Joe,

Everybody thought of your birthday & it really was sad not being with you on your 22nd birtday. Tonight we had our program. They fixed the stage the way they would have a shibai. All the little kids did it very well. Miyo & I did a skit & I think it turned out pretty good. After Miyo & I did it they had refreshments. We had 5 cookies, 1 tangerine 5 cashew nuts, 2 peices of Hi Ho with pickled relish inside. Thats about all. Well after the refreshments it was all shibai stuff so I went home. I think Dyke is leaving for relocation next monday. Well I'll write again tomorrow, We all estmiated that you were in Chicago by today.
