March 16

Hi Joe!

How are you?

Glad to hear that your health condition has gotten better. Everybody here is okay and we hope your thanking god as we pray for you every night. We are sending a form which came to you from the W.R.A. It says that Atsushi Sugasawara has sent your name in for reference and so you will probably see what it says. This reference stuff occurred when we had that terrible army registration. We sent many names in for reference such as Boulton, Kelly, Smith, Goodwin, and etc. We hope that this won't disappoint you.

Tonight I have finished my home work and very much likely began to start playing.

Mom said that I should write so I hopped in my pajamas and began to write on this Manzanar 5 cent tablet.

Last night Towru and I attended the show in Block 20. Gee I really liked it. The name of it was "Eagle Squadron." Starring with Diana Barrymore, Robert Stack, Evelyn Aukers and etc. It was all about war and was quite interesting with bombing, fires, & etc.

Well we hope you aren't too busy to attend a show on Saturday.

On Sunday it was very dusty & stormy. The weather was something like the day when Jack Takayanaji left. Well any way on that terrible day Mary Takemura left and Moma went to see her but it was so dusty that she was unable to she the bus and Mary.

The next morning Kay Odahara left at 4:00 am and Moma said it was very dark and it was hard to see through all the darkness. Boy she sure was happy when she left. She said it was about time for the pass to come. Moma was tired when she got back because she got up so early and was sleepy as a cat. Monday was stormy too & boy it was hard to even see the next barrack. At the same time on the windy day on Sunday there was a fire by the creek and it was just a sagebrush fire. How do you feel with out any dust storms. (relieved I suppose)

Tonight Towru went to block 16 and he still is working on the P.A. system. They are having a farewell party at Kitchen 16 for the Sugar Beet workers.

Moma is getting pretty much done with Towru's letter man sweater. She has gotten all most to the shoulders & soon as the yarn comes she'll be starting on the sleeves.

After I started the pink sweater I didn't get ambicious enough to start the sleeves after finishing it so I'll having to do it during the summer. (I hope not).

As usual Poppa is working in the Jo Kaisho and comes home around 9:30.

This year's school was pretty good and I hope to see it come out better there it was before. The students that graduated Manzanar High were not wearing formals or suits but this time they wore the kind of clothes that the college students wear. They color was gray & white & sure looked nice for the first graduation of Manzanar.

I'm really doing much better at school this semester better then the last semester.

Have you seen Mrs. Smeltzer yet? By the way today Nob & Masa Hohri left today for Chicago.

[Page 6]

Hay Joe if you cut off 3/7ths of a chicken & 2/3rds of a cat and 1/2 of a goat what do you get. Well you get "Chicago." Cute ain't it. Will sign off now.

Your one & only Sis

Masako
