Hello Joe,

Thanks for your letters.

It sure sounds like the army life is teaching you quite a few things.

We have received one allotment. It was $37.00. I think you'll know when you get mom's letter.

Joe, didn't Mr. Boulton say anything besides assuring you that everything at home was in good condition? What Pop, Mom, and I want to know is "Are the Affoulter's moving yet?" "Did they find a house?" "Did they say they would get out by June?" Please ask Mr. Boulton what has happened, if he hasn't answered those questions as yet. We would like to know because that is the only way we know if we are going back. If they don't get out, we can't go back. At first we thought we couldn't go back "if the Affoulters wouldn't move out even though we would ask the OPA" because we were only the owners family. You have to be the owner to go back if you and the OPA to help you moved your tenants out by force. But now, we aren't afraid of such a thing happening because you could ask the Red Cross to help you out because your in the armed forces and that gives you the privilege of getting your family back by the aid of the Cross's help. But if the Affoulters get out without making complaints we don't have to ask for any help from anyone. If they get out, we are expecting to go back as soon as they get out because there are a lot of things in our house and something could happen if we left it without having a soul there. Well all we wanted to know were those questions.

Joe there's just 26 more days of school and we'll be out. Boy, I can hardly wait for that day to come. School will be out on the 29th of May instead of the 31st of May. We just had another six weeks exam and are expecting report cards. (ugg!) I know one grade already. That's "B". Its for short hand. I had "C" before.

It seems as though its going to be very hot this summer. That's because we suddenly got a heat wave last week. Boy it was hot! Around 80-90's. How was your weather? It is a little cooler but its still hot.

George Ichien came back to camp around a week before easter or something like that. Boy, he was glad. His parents called him on an emergency furlough to come back to tell him on relocation. George stayed and listened to his parents pleas and then went to Venice in the evening and came back that following day. When he went there, the tenant at his house greeted him and let him see the whole house. Those tenants found a house so Ichien-san is expecting to go very soon. Ichien-san said they would write and tell us of the conditions. George left right after he came back from Venice and verily made it in his camp because the train was late. Wow! Close shave, huh! I'd be pretty stiff I were him!

Joe, Mom would like to make a request for you to come back here and talk to us about relocating! We could make the request for you to come back, from the Red Cross. We would probably want you to come in May or June. Joe, what do you think about this? Has George Ichien written to you about this? We doubt he hasn't because I feel that he's quite irresponsible as I told you just in case because Mom requested it to George. But I guess he's for-gotten by now. If you think it's unpermissible, your mistaken because they will give you the furlough. Mom says she'll pay for your train fare. Please write back immediately for this answer. This furlough would [illegible] of stretch out your training too! By that I mean you won't have to go overseas that many days more earlier. Please write for this answer!

Have you heard from Joe? He hasn't wrote to us since he left for Chicago and no doubt he's back by now. I guess the old buggar is actually studying. If he writes to you, tell him to drop us a line, too!

Joe, you know those pictures George Ichien took for us last summer, what did you do with

the negatives. I would like to know because I want some prints made. If you have the negative I'd like you to make about a dozen prints of the good picture of me where I'm standing above and showing a good smile. If you don't have the negatives, you can forget about it. I guess you don't have the negative anyways so I guess it was ignorant of me to ask you to do such a thing for me. Please excuse me!

Well, I guess I better quit now. Got to study before I get embarrassed. By embarrassed I mean I won't know the answer in class the kids will think I'm dumb. Well adios.

So long,

Mas

P.S. Vic Yokota and Lily went to Utah and also took the baby. (The brat the kept me awake all night by it's loud yelling.)

P.S. It really would be swell if you & Tor came home together. We'd all be as a whole family again. When do you expect to come home to L.A.? Do you think they will let you have a special furlough to come home?
