Dear Joe,

Got you letter today and the material which Towru sent came yesterday.

The lotion hasn't been sent because we were so busy but I think somebody will send it (lotion for pimples). By the way, the pimple lotion is really for Towru and it cost 2 dollars. When Towru came back to Manzanar we noticed the red pimples all over his face. That's why the lotion will be sent to you.

Gosh, it sure is funny. When you guys are having rain and it is pouring like the dickens, we are having the terrible weather of the boiling hot summer sun. When it gets too hot the weather suddenly changes and the sky gets cloudy and the dust begins to blow and after that it sprinkles very lightly.

You know what? I'm actually working. Guess what I'm doing. Well to tell you the truth I am working in the block office.

I'm taking Hiroko's place because she's getting married this Saturday. I just started last Saturday. It's kind of fun. I clean the block office, distribute toilet paper (put in the latrine), exchange light globes, fuses, make a daily report, distribute newspapers, and that's about all. Sometimes I make changes in the directory, and so forth. I don't think I'll have this job but one month because they say they are going to terminate secretaries because of the shortage of secretaries. What do you think of this? I'm using Hiroko's name.

Well, I hope you can use that twenty five dollars some way to please yourself. Anyway, I mean to buy some kind of sport coat or suit. I think the idea of you buying a suit will be swell. Gives you experience.

You probably won't hear from me next week because next week is final exams. Boy, over the whole year's work. Gosh it sure makes a guy suffer. The exams are going to be one hour and a half each. I can already see myself sitting and trying to know what the answer is.

You ought to see the auditorium. Boy it is just progressing as fast as ever. Man, it's the color of the bungalows that they used to have back home. Everybody calls it a hanger or a barn. They are having the operetta in there and all of the singers are going to wear white shorts. Each of them positively has to have shorts on. Boy, I can imagine all of the gobo's and daikons lined up on the stage. Cant you?

They are just putting up the windows in the auditorium.

I bet you are really looking forward to coming back to camp because your letters come pretty often. Tell Towru to write more often. The jerkus said he answered every letter that was written to him but heck you can't tell what really gona happen.

I suppose you have seen Vic Yokata in Chicago by now. Boy he sure looked snazzy in that suit and hat he wore to Chicago. More less looked Pachookish to me.

Did you ever get those carnations. How about saying at least a word about them, huh!

Gosh, I got a final tomorrow so please wait till I write again.

Mas

P.S. We got our annuals on the 1st of June & it really is pretty good. I'll send it some time so you can see it.
