Sansei male. Born December 1, 1941, in San Jose, California. Removed as an infant with parents to the Heart Mountain concentration camp, Wyoming. After leaving camp, family resettled in Illinois, and Gerald eventually attended the University of Illinois and then moved to the East Coast. Became involved in civil rights organizations.
